The LINQ Promenade, home to some of the best cheap eats in Las Vegas

Growing up in California, I have been lucky enough to visit Las Vegas more times than I can count. When I was younger, I visited Vegas for the nightlife and gambling. Now that I am getting older, I realize there is a lot more to Vegas than meets the eye. While the city was built on gambling, today, Las Vegas is one of the best food cities in the world.

Las Vegas seems to have it all when it comes to food. Everything from buffets to Michelin star celebrity chef restaurants to hole-in-the-wall eateries only known by locals. This diversity is what keeps me coming back.

While Las Vegas can be an expensive place to eat, you can also find your share of affordable food options that are not only cheap but delicious. This is my list of 14 of the best cheap eats on the Las Vegas Strip.

Planning a trip to Las Vegas? I recommend a guidebook such as Fodor's Las Vegas for the best places to visit and eat. The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas is also great for finding hidden spots. These guides really help me make the most of my trips and I think they can help you too!

1 – Tacos El Gordo

Taco de Adobada served at Tacos El Gordo

The first spot on my list of the best cheap eats in Las Vegas brings us to Tacos El Gordo. Founded in San Diego in 1998, Tacos El Gordo today operates three locations in Las Vegas including one on the strip across from Resorts World.

Tacos El Gordo is well known for their authentic Tijuana style tacos, which I consider to be the best tacos in Las Vegas. I always go for the Taco de Adobada with fresh sliced marinated pork, onions, cilantro, and a slice of pineapple on a homemade corn tortilla.

But, they aren’t just known for their tacos. They are also known for their sopes, mulas, quesadillas, tostadas, and more. Go early or be prepared to wait 30 minutes in line.

Looking for a slice of New York-style pizza? Look no further than Secret Pizza hidden inside the Cosmopolitan. It’s the perfect place for a slice of pizza before your night begins or after a night out.

While not so secret these days, Secret Pizza can be tough to find and easy to walk by with no sign. With some of the best pizza in Las Vegas, the trouble to find it is worth it. If you manage to find the entrance located on the third floor of the Cosmo, follow the record-lined hallway to the walk-up counter.

It is here where you can order a ready to go hot slice, create your own slice with your choice of toppings, or order a whole pie. After getting your pizza, grab a spot at the standing only counter inside or outside at one of the tables in the Cosmopolitan lounge area.

What to order: White Pizza

3 – Shake Shack

The Double ShackBurger
The Double ShackBurger

Shake Shack is a fast casual chain of burger restaurants founded in New York City in 2004. Since opening, the chain has expanded to over 250 locations around the world. One of those locations can be found at the New York-New York Hotel.

Their signature burger is the ShackBurger, available in a single or double version. This burger is prepared with a freshly ground 100% Angus beef patty, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce served on a fluffy and sweet potato roll. What makes this burger so delicious is the juicy patty which is seared to perfection until crispy and charred on the outside.

Other than burgers, Shake Shack is well known for their shakes, crinkle cut fries, and chicken sandwiches. If you have never tried Shake Shack before, give it a try. It gives In-N-Out Burger a run for their money.

You can read my full review of Shake Shack here.

4 – Eggslut

If you are on Instagram, then odds are you have seen photos of Eggslut, a popular breakfast spot founded in Los Angeles in 2011. Since starting out as a food truck, Eggslut has expanded to locations in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, London, Seoul, and Tokyo.

At each of these locations, including here inside the Cosmopolitan, you can expect a line. But, the wait is worth it for their opulent breakfast sandwiches served on freshly baked brioche buns.

I always go for the Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Sandwich with hardwood smoked bacon, over medium egg, cheddar cheese, and chipotle ketchup on a warm brioche bun. A delectable delight. If you are looking for the perfect hangover food, this is it.

You can read my full review of Eggslut here.

What to order: Any breakfast sandwich

5 – Village Pub & Cafe

The $9.99 Steak & Eggs Special at the Village Pub & Cafe
The $9.99 Steak & Eggs Special at the Village Pub & Cafe

While technically not located on the Las Vegas Strip, I couldn’t make a cheap eats post without including the Village Pub & Cafe. This restaurant is located inside Ellis Island, just east of the strip down Flamingo.

In the past, the Village Pub & Cafe was known to locals and in-the-know foodies, but lately it seems everyone knows about their $9.99 Steak & Eggs Special. This special includes a steak cooked to your liking, two eggs any style, potatoes, and a choice of toast.

While the price is cheap and the food simple, the steak is anything but. The steak is fresh and cooked to order until seared perfectly on the outside. This special is available from 11:00PM to 11:00AM. Be sure to ask your server for the special as you won’t find it on the menu.

What to order: $9.99 Steak & Eggs Special

Village Pub & Cafe
Address: 4178 Koval Ln, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: 24 hours

6 – Ocean One Bar & Grille

Ocean One Bar & Grille located in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood claims to be the busiest restaurant in Las Vegas. This may be true as every time I walk by the restaurant, it’s packed. And, this is because of their $5.99 lunch menu.

Yes, you read that right. All items on their menu including appetizers, tacos, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and chef specialties are less than $6. This includes the bone-in chicken breast, grilled Atlantic salmon, and flank steak.

While their food won’t win any awards, for the price, it’s a great value. Other than food, they are well known for their 3-for-1 drink special and $3 beers.

What to order: Half Pound Angus Beef Burger Special, Wings “Ocean Eight”, Marinated Sliced Flank Steak

Ocean One Bar & Grille
Address: 3667 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (located inside the Miracle Mile Shops)
Hours: Open daily 7:30AM–11:30PM

7 – Greenberg’s Deli

Reuben Sandwich
Reuben Sandwich

If you are looking for one of the best Reuben sandwiches in Las Vegas, then look no further than Greenberg’s Deli. This New York-style Jewish deli is located along the Village Street Eateries inside the New York-New York Hotel.

While this isn’t Katz’s Delicatessen or Carnegie Deli, you still get a little taste of New York City. Even the kitsch décor will make you feel like you are in New York. Most people order the Reuben with sliced to order corned beef or pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and thousand island on rye bread.

If you can’t decide on corned beef or pastrami, opt for the Twin Bill sandwich with two types of meat. Sandwiches are large with generous amounts of tender, smoky, salty meat, so make sure you come hungry.

What to order: Twin Bill Sandwich

Greenberg’s Deli
Address: 3790 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (located inside New York-New York Hotel)
Hours: Open daily 10:00AM-10:00PM

8 – Whataburger

The Bacon & Cheese Whataburger, Las Vegas, Nevada
The Bacon & Cheese Whataburger

After 40 years, Whataburger, known for its made-to-order burgers, fresh ingredients, and iconic logo, has returned to Las Vegas. The popular fast-food chain opened its new location on the Las Vegas Strip, in front of the Waldorf Astoria.

This location is large, modern, and upscale, featuring two stories, large televisions, and a patio with incredible views of the Strip. Located within Whataburger is Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse. So, besides burgers, you can order pizza, wings, cocktails, and draft beer and find a full bar.

While more expensive than your typical Whataburger, there are a few options for less than $10. I like to order the Bacon & Cheese Whataburger with a 5-inch patty, American cheese, bacon, tomato, onions, and mustard on a soft bun.

And since they are open 24 hours a day, you can enjoy Whataburger any time of the day or night, including before or after a night of partying.

What to order: Whataburger, Bacon & Cheese Whataburger

Whataburger
Address: 3752 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89158 (located inside Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas)
Hours: 24 hours

9 – The Peppermill Restaurant & Fireside Lounge

Sin City B.L.T
Sin City B.L.T

The Peppermill Restaurant & Fireside Lounge is one of my favorite restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip. This iconic diner, located just north of the Venetian near Resorts World and Circus Circus, dates back to 1972. Its unique old school interior featuring mirrored ceilings, bright purple and blue upholstered booths, fake trees, and neon lights is worth the visit alone. It’s like stepping back in time.

While there are expensive items on the menu, there are plenty of options around $20. This includes breakfast dishes, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, soups and salads, and other entrees. Portions are large and the food is hearty, so you will get your money’s worth and have leftovers.

If you can’t decide what to order, I recommend the Sin City B.L.T served with applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado, an egg, and pesto.

What to order: Sin City B.L.T., Peppermill Burger, Primal Burger

The Peppermill Restaurant & Fireside Lounge
Address: 2985 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Hours: Monday-Wednesday: 7:00AM-11:00PM; Thursday-Sunday: 7:00AM-2:00AM

10 – Earl of Sandwich

Chipotle Chicken Avocado
Chipotle Chicken Avocado

Earl of Sandwich is one of my favorite spots in Las Vegas for a late night, carb heavy, warm sandwich that is both affordable and delicious. This deli-style sandwich spot, located inside Planet Hollywood, is well known for their artisan sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups.

Sandwiches are prepared fresh to order using high quality ingredients and soft bread. Unique sandwiches include the Holiday Turkey with cornbread stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce and The Full Montagu with roasted beef, two types of cheese, lettuce, and tomato.

As for me, I go for the Chipotle Chicken Avocado with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, and avocado.

What to order: Chipotle Chicken Avocado, The Original 1762

Earl of Sandwich
Address: 3667 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (located inside Planet Hollywood)

11 – La Salsa Cantina

$6.99 Breakfast Special
$6.99 Breakfast Special

While La Salsa Cantina won’t win any awards for their food, it just might be one of the best deals for breakfast in Las Vegas. This casual Mexican eatery, located inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, is popular for their $6.99 breakfast special.

This special, served Monday-Friday until noon, includes 2 eggs any style with your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage. You also have the choice of tortillas (corn or flour) or Texas toast and southwest potatoes.

While far from the best breakfast in town, you just can’t beat this deal for the amount of food, especially in a city as expensive as Las Vegas.

What to order: $6.99 Breakfast Special

La Salsa Cantina
Address: 3663 Las Vegas Blvd S Ste 380, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (located inside the Miracle Mile Shops)

12 – Flour & Barley

$10 Beer & Slice Special
$10 Beer & Slice Special

The second pizza spot on the list of the best cheap eats in Las Vegas brings us to Flour & Barley. Flour & Barley, located in The LINQ Promenade, specializes in brick oven pizzas and Italian inspired dishes.

They are also popular for their $10 happy hour beer & slice special. This special is available at the walk-up window from 2:00PM to 6:00PM, Monday through Friday. While you are limited to cheese or pepperoni, the slices are large. I recommend the pepperoni slice with crunchy pieces of oil filled meat, tart and sweet tomato sauce, and crispy but soft crust.

After getting your slice, grab a spot at one of the standing tables or take a seat at the tables on the patio of the restaurant.

What to order: $10 Pizza Slice and Beer Special

Flour & Barley
Address: 3545 South Las Vegas Boulevard #L25, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (located at The LINQ Promenade)

13 – Foot Long Hot Dog

The $3.49 Footlong All Beef Hot Dog
The $3.49 Footlong All Beef Hot Dog

Foot Long Hot Dog is one of the lesser known spots on my list. This hot dog stand, hidden in the back of Casino Royale, is one of the cheapest eats on this list. For $3.49, you get yourself a Nathan’s all beef footlong hot dog.

All hot dogs come plain with ketchup, mustard, and mayo packets given on the side. Onions and relish cost 50 cents each while premium toppings including chili, cheese, grilled onions and bell peppers, and sauerkraut cost 99 cents each. The all beef sausages are steamed until tender and moist while the buns are fluffy and sweet.

While I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, if you are in the area and looking for something cheap, then it’s worth it. And, they are open late if you need a quick bite after a night out in Vegas.

What to order: Footlong All Beef Hot Dog

Foot Long Hot Dogs
Address: 3411 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109 (located inside Casino Royale)
Hours: Sunday-Thursday: 11:00AM-1:00AM; Friday-Saturday: 11:00AM-3:00AM

14 – In-N-Out Burger

Double-Double with Animal Style Fries
Double-Double with Animal Style Fries

The final spot on my list of 14 of the best cheap eats in Las Vegas goes to In-N-Out Burger. Sure this is a fast food chain, but how could I leave it out. While you can find locations across the Las Vegas Valley, my favorite In-N-Out Burger location in Las Vegas is at The LINQ Promenade. While you won’t find a drive-thru, you will find the same great tasting burgers using fresh ingredients.

I always go for their signature Double-Double. As the name implies, this burger includes two meat patties, two slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and sauce on a toasted bun. Order your burger “Animal Style” if you want pickles, chopped grilled onions, and an extra serving of In-N-Out’s secret sauce added to your Double-Double.

As for me, I order my Double-Double with two types of onions, fresh and grilled, along with spicy chopped chilis.

What to order: Double-Double Animal Style
