One of the best fish & chips in Las Vegas can be found at Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips at The LINQ Promenade on the Las Vegas Strip. This fast-casual eatery, headed by British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, is popular for its fried Alaskan cod, house-made chips using Kennebec potatoes, and signature dipping sauces including Gordon’s Tartar Sauce.

I have been wanting to try all of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants in Las Vegas including Hell’s Kitchen at Caesars Palace, Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris, and Gordon Ramsay Burger at Planet Hollywood.

Though I had a disappointing meal a few days earlier at Gordon Ramsay Burger, I decided to keep an open mind and head on over to The LINQ Promenade for some fish and chips.

Bold Exterior and Interior

Unique exterior of the restaurant

The exterior of the restaurant was a real eye-catcher. Bright blue paint, a large hanging fish with the Union Jack painted on it, and red telephone boxes as doors. I felt as if I was entering a British pub.

The interior of the restaurant was just as bold with neon lights and bright blue, red, and white walls. Prior to Covid, the small dining room only fit a few tables along with limited counter seating. Until restrictions are lifted, those wanting to eat at the restaurant will have to eat at the standing only tables in front of the restaurant.

On the right side of the restaurant was a busy, open-air kitchen. While I had to wait in line, I enjoyed being able to watch the chefs at work. It was quite the sight as the chefs battered fish, dropped chips in the fryer, and prepared boxes of food.

After 10 minutes waiting in line, I made it to the front where I ordered with the cashier. I was told that when my food was ready, I could pick it up from the “Pick-Up” counter near the entrance.

Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips Menu

The Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips menu was simple and straight to the point. The most popular option on the menu, not surprisingly, was the fish and chips combo. Other fried favorites, which you could order in a combo, included shrimp, lobster, sausage, and chicken. All combos came with chips, two sauces, and a drink. If you want fish, chicken, and shrimp together, be sure to order the G Spot from the secret menu. Sauces included Gordon’s Tartar, Curry & Mango, Sriracha Aioli, Southwest Ranch, Dijon Mayonnaise, and Cocktail. Drink options included lemonade, tea, soft drinks, and bottled water. Beer or shakes could be substituted for an extra charge.

Those in the mood for just chips can order chips sprinkled with sea salt or one of the three types of dirty fries topped with an assortment of decadent ingredients.

Fish & Chips Combo with Two Sauces

While I love shrimp and lobster, I ordered the traditional Fish & Chips Combo ($16.99) with Gordon’s Tartar and Southwest Ranch. While not cheap, I was impressed by the amount of fish and chips packed in the box. I was getting my money’s worth. And, the presentation looked beautiful, which can be difficult with fried foods.

As I picked up one of the three pieces of battered, deep fried Alaskan cod, I literally screamed in pain as the fish burned my hand. The fish could not have been fresher, or hotter, as it came directly out of the fryer and into the box. I was hoping it tasted as great as it looked. And, it did. The moist, flakey cod, with its fresh, salty flavor, could not have been cooked any better. Without a doubt, this was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. The thin, light, airy beer-battered crust added a crunchy texture and rich flavor to each bite without overpowering the delicate fish. I enjoyed how the breading stuck to the fish without falling apart.

As for the chips, they were disappointing. I wouldn’t say they were soggy but they were undercooked. With how busy the kitchen was, I understand how this could have happened. But, for the price, and being a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, I felt disappointed with the chips. They just needed a few more minutes in the fryer.

You can’t have fish and chips without tartar sauce. Gordon’s Tartar, though thick and creamy, was not as crunchy as I would have liked. With that said, the sauce complemented the rich breading of the fish. On the other hand, I found the Southwest Ranch better suited for the chips. This simple sauce, a mixture of ranch dressing and chipotle, was both smoky and creamy. I enjoyed dunking each chip into this sauce.

Service

While I had to wait in line to order, I used this time to watch the chefs as they worked feverishly, preparing dish after dish. Seafood was constantly being battered and dropped in the deep fryer. I would describe the scene as controlled chaos. I appreciated their dedication and hard work.

While I didn’t notice until after I paid, I was overcharged for a beer even after confirming the price with the cashier. According to the menu, an upgrade to a beer should be $5 or $6. I was charged the full price, $7.99. While it was most likely an honest mistake, and not a big deal, be sure to check your receipt.

Conclusion

The fish at Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips had to be one of the best I have ever had. The breading was light, golden, and rich while the cod was flaky and moist. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. On the other hand, the simple chips were disappointing and felt rushed. With that said, because of the perfectly fried fish, I would add Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips to the best fish & chips in Las Vegas. I’ll just ask for me chips to be cooked well done next time.

    • April,

I find that Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants are hit-or-miss. I had a poor experience at his burger restaurant. For the prices he charges, I think this is unacceptable.
