9 of the best slices of pizza on the Las Vegas Strip

9 of the best slices of pizza on the Las Vegas Strip

The first things that come to mind when I think of the food scene in Las Vegas are celebrity chef restaurants, buffets, and fine dining. I’ve lost track of how many restaurants Gordon Ramsay has in Vegas.

Even though you can find every type of food here, one type of food that is rarely mentioned is pizza. While Las Vegas isn’t known as a pizza town, you can find great pizza all around the city. This includes on the Las Vegas Strip. That is, if you know where to look. And, I’m not talking about Dominos or Pizza Hut. I’m talking about fresh New York-style pizza baked in a pizza oven with scratch made dough and tomato sauce.

So what makes a good New York slice? A slice should have just enough cheese and sauce to cover the thin crust which is both chewy and crispy. You want to taste each ingredient in every bite without any ingredients overpowering the other. While simple, each slice is a balancing act of flavors, textures, and colors.

On my recent visit to Las Vegas, I set out to find the best pizza slices on the strip. To keep the competition fair and see how each place matched up, I decided to order the same slice at each spot. And this was the ubiquitous pepperoni slice. This is my list of 9 of the best slices of pizza on the Las Vegas Strip.

Planning a trip to Las Vegas? I recommend a guidebook such as Fodor's Las Vegas for the best places to visit and eat. The Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas is also great for finding hidden spots. These guides really help me make the most of my trips and I think they can help you too!

It’s the perfect place for a slice before your night begins or after a night out. While not so secret these days, Secret Pizza can be tough to find and easy to walk by with no sign out front. It is here where you can order a ready to go hot slice, create your own slice with your choice of toppings, or order a whole pie. And, they are well known for the pin-up girls running the place behind the counter. The shop uses high quality ingredients including dough and pomodori pelati tomatoes flown in from Naples. Their Sorrento mozzarella comes from Buffalo, New York. But, the high quality ingredients come at a cost. Each slice will set you back $8.99. While not cheap, the slices are worth it, especially for the size. The dough is thin, chewy, and airy while crispy and smoky on the bottom. The tomato sauce is sweet and bright, adding an intense flavor to each bite. Covering the slice is the perfect amount of crispy, tender, rich pepperoni along with a layer of salty, fresh mozzarella. Pizza Cake is a New York-style pizzeria opened by celebrity chef and Cake Boss star Buddy Valastro. The small pizzeria opened in 2020 at Harrah’s, right on the Las Vegs Strip. Inside you will find checkerboard floors, subway tiles, and family photos on the walls. Like in New York, you can walk up and order a fresh slice, right out of the red pizza oven. With the help of his father-in-law, it took Buddy V six months to create his perfect slice of New York-style pizza. The crust here is thin and chewy with a crispy, charred bottom. Scattered around the slice are oily cups of spicy and salty pepperoni that adds the perfect richness. Also rich and salty is the fresh mozzarella baked into the crust. Finishing off this slice is a sweet and tart sauce that covers the entire slice. You can taste each ingredient in every bite. 5 – Sirrico’s Pizza

Sirrico’s Pizza, Pepperoni Slice, Las Vegas

Sirrico’s Pizza is a popular New York-style pizzeria located at the Village Street Eateries in New York-New York Hotel & Casino. It is not uncommon to find a line out front at any hour of the day. Sirrico’s uses a cafeteria ordering system, which is uncommon for pizzerias. You order at the counter and wait for your food before making your way to the front of the line to pay. The slices served here are large. The crust, which is thicker than a traditional New York slice, is chewy and pillowy with a smoky, charred bottom. Both the pepperoni and melted mozzarella add the right amount of rich, oily goodness. Balancing out this richness is a sweet and tart tomato sauce that covers the entire slice. Sirrico’s is the perfect spot for a quick, late night slice as long as the line isn’t too long.

Slice of Vegas is a busy pizzeria and Italian restaurant located at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place between Mandalay Bay and Luxor. The restaurant serves dishes including classic Italian favorites, sandwiches, pizza, salads, and more. But, if you don’t want to order a whole pie, or wait in line for a table, you can grab a slice from the small walk-up counter. Pizza selections include cheese, pepperoni, pepperoni and sausage, and supreme. You can also order a combo for $10 that gets you a slice, salad, and fountain drink. The slices served here are bigger and thicker than traditional New York-style pizza. The crust is doughy and chewy, almost like eating a calzone when folded. And, the slices are cheesy and gooey thanks to the generous amount of salty mozzarella. Also salty are the chewy pieces of spicy pepperoni which adds a rich injection of oily goodness. Bringing the slice together is a simple, fresh tomato sauce. With slices starting at $4.95, Slice of Vegas is a great spot for a slice on the southern section of the Las Vegas Strip.

7 – Rocco’s NY Pizza & Pasta

Rocco’s NY Pizza & Pasta, Pepperoni Slice, Las Vegas

Rocco’s NY Pizza & Pasta is a local chain best known for their New York-style slices and Italian dishes. Rocco, who was born in the Bronx, learned to cook from his Italian family and eventually opened a deli and pizzeria in the New York area. He then moved to Las Vegas where he opened Rocco’s NY Pizza & Pasta. Today, there are six locations in the valley including one hidden in a strip mall across from Mandalay Bay. The menu at Rocco’s features a wide variety of Italian dishes including pizzas, sandwiches, stromboli, pasta, and salads. They also offer a variety of New York-style, thin crust slices. The slices, which are some of the thinnest on the strip, come out burning hot and crispy from the oven. The sauce is sweet and tart while the pepperoni is rich and greasy. If you are looking for a simple, no-frills pizzeria that feels miles away from the mega resorts then Rocco’s NY Pizza & Pasta is your spot.

Cost of a pepperoni slice at Rocco’s NY Pizza & Pasta: $5.00

8 – Pizza D’Italia

Pizza D’Italia, Pepperoni Slice, Las Vegas

I have walked past Pizza D’Italia more times than I can count without stopping, until recently. This no-frills pizza shop, located in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, is often overlooked by those walking down the strip. While whole pies are insanely expensive, they do offer affordable $5.95 slices. Pizza options include pepperoni, margherita, cheese, Hawaiian, supreme, and veggie lovers. This isn’t your traditional New York-style slice but an Italian gourmet style pizza. Each slice uses 48 hour fermented homemade pizza dough. This dough is chewier and thicker than thin crust pizzas yet is still light and airy. Large pieces of spicy, smoky, and salty pepperoni, along with fresh basil, covers the entire slice. Under the pepperoni is a simple sweet tomato sauce and a sprinkling of shredded mozzarella. With only a counter to order at and no tables, you will need to find a place to enjoy your slice. I recommend somewhere on the Las Vegas Strip.

9 – Pisa Pizza

Pepperoni slice from Pisa Pizza

I debated whether to add Pisa Pizza to my list. But, I decided to add it anyways. So, the 9th and final spot on my list of the best slices of pizza on the Las Vegas Strip goes to Pisa Pizza. This pizzeria, borderline street food stall, takes up a small nook at the Grand Bazaar Shops in front of Bally’s. Pisa Pizza offers many stone baked Italian slices for around $5 to $6. Options include cheese, pepperoni, meat lovers, BBQ chicken, and Hawaiian. The homemade slices are simple yet large. The thin crust, while not as crispy as most slices, holds up to the big pieces of chewy pepperoni, thick layer of greasy mozzarella, and sweet tomato sauce. Other than pizzas, sides include nachos, pretzels, and a pizza dog. Sure, there are better places on the Las Vegas Strip for pizza with better service. But, with a prime location and late night hours, Pisa Pizza is a great spot for a quick and cheap bite after a night out.

Cost of a pepperoni slice at Pisa Pizza: $5.99
