It was my last night in Las Vegas and I was craving two things, a spicy chicken sandwich and a local craft beer. These days you can find great spots all over Vegas for chicken and beer including Hattie B’s at The Cosmopolitan, The Crack Shack, and Big Chicken. While these places are great, I needed something closer to my hotel in the Fremont East District of downtown Las Vegas. After a quick search online, I found my spot. I knew it right when I saw the name.
As the name implies, Flippin’ Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, serves good chicken, burgers, and beers. But, because of the unique name, my expectations were high before I even stepped foot inside. Would the chicken and beer be flippin’ good or would it be flippin’ bad? I went to try it out for myself.

Interior
While small, the open and bright dining room felt much larger than it really was. In the center of the dining room were many high-top tables. Flanking each side of the room were booths. Opposite the entrance was a full bar stocked with a plethora of beers, wines, and liquors. Hanging on the walls around the dining room were televisions playing current sporting events.
The clean and modern interior featured red brick walls, red wooden walls, tile floors, and a colorful bar. In the background, rock music was playing, adding to the casual, laid back ambiance. Though located on busy Fremont Street, the spot felt like a local neighborhood bar.
Outside the restaurant was a small outdoor patio. While I didn’t sit on the patio on my visit, it felt like the perfect spot for people watching.
Flippin Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer Menu
The menu at Flippin Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer featured chicken and burgers, which wasn’t a surprise. All chicken dishes, whether sandwiches or tenders, used all natural, cage-free chicken with no hormones or antibiotics. Both chicken and burgers were served with french fries. For an extra charge, you could upgrade to specialty fries or a house salad. Those who are vegan had the option of a vegan chicken sandwich or an impossible burger.
Sides, which were perfect for sharing, included specialty fries, fried pickles, french fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. There were also two salads on the menu for those looking for something a little lighter.
The menu also featured a good selection of drinks. This included draft and canned beers, cocktails, wines, boozy shakes, milkshakes, blended floats, sodas, and tea.

The Firebird
While the menu featured many great options, I settled on the The Firebird ($12.95). This limited time special featured a crispy Nashville chicken breast, fiery cluckin’ hot sauce, and pickled cherry peppers on a brioche bun. Served on the side, fresh Kennebec fries.
What caught my attention first had to be the size of the crispy Nashville chicken breast. It was massive and I hoped it tasted as good as it looked. And, it did. When I took a bite, I tasted smoky, salty, spicy Nashville hot chicken seasoning. While not as spicy as some of the chicken I have had in Nashville, the seasoning had a good kick of heat. Underneath the thick, crunchy breading was a tender piece of chicken breast. While not the juiciest chicken breast I have ever had, it was cooked just right.
On its own, I found the breading to be too rich for my liking. Helping cut through this richness was a crunchy slaw of carrots, red cabbage, and green cabbage along with sweet and spicy pickled cherry peppers. Mixed in with the slaw and peppers was a fiery cluckin’ hot sauce. This spicy yet creamy hot sauce tasted like chipotle mayonnaise.
The soft, golden brioche bun soaked up the seasonings and hot sauce. The hint of sweetness in the bun complemented the spicy Nashville seasoning, cluckin’ hot sauce, and rich breading. The lightly toasted bun held together until the last bite, even when covered with chicken, toppings, and sauce.
The combination of flavors and textures made the The Firebird a real winner. But, this sandwich was quite messy, so remember to ask for extra napkins.
Fire Fries
For an extra $2, I upgraded to the Fire Fries. These spicy Nashville hot fries were topped with cluckin’ hot sauce, aged cheddar queso, and grilled jalapenos. If you are on a diet, you might want to stay away from these decadent fries.
While different, these fries reminded me of Animal Style fries found at In-N-Out. Sprinkled over the top was a smoky and spicy Nashville hot chicken seasoning, the same used for The Firebird. Also the same, the creamy, smoky, spicy cluckin’ hot sauce covering each fry. My favorite part of these Fire Fries had to be the grilled jalapenos. These spicy and salty peppers added both texture and a wonderful pickled flavor. Aged cheddar queso could be found hidden under all the fries and toppings. This salty, creamy queso reminded me of nacho cheese sauce.
My least favorite part of the Fire Fries? The fries themselves. Made from fresh Kennebec potatoes, I found the french fries to be undercooked. While not soggy, I wanted them to be crispier, especially when covered with cheese and sauce. Even with the potatoes being undercooked, the Fire Fries were delicious and I would order them again.
Service
I found the service at Flippin’ Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer to be…flippin’ great. My laid back, friendly server was always around when I needed him and gave me food and beer recommendations. Even better, my food and drinks arrived quickly after ordering without any issues or hold ups.
Conclusion
Along with Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, I can now add Flippin’ Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer to my list of the best chicken sandwiches in Las Vegas. Though a limited time special, The Firebird was fantastic with its complementing flavors and textures. The crunchy breading, thick chicken breast, spicy cluckin’ hot sauce, and crunchy slaw and peppers came together perfectly. While the fries could have been crispier, I can’t wait to return to try other items on the menus. With great food and service, a full bar with local craft beers, and a clean and modern dining room, I will stop by Flippin’ Good Chicken, Burgers, Beer on my next visit to downtown Las Vegas and Fremont Street.
